I forgive me

Through my journey of healing, as I stated in a previous blog post, I struggled in the area of forgiveness. I learned that there are steps to forgiveness. One is asking God for forgiveness, forgiving yourself, then forgiving others. I wrote a blog post about forgiving others, but I didn’t touch on forgiving myself. Because I struggled in the area, I lived in constant regret. I would beat myself up for the mistakes I made. I still lived in the past of pain after God had already forgiven me. I can be honest, I’m so hard on myself at times. I would play so many scenarios in my head about my past. Because I was still living in my past after others who had hurt me moved on. The bible verse in Matthew 6:14 states for we forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you; it doesn’t just apply to the people who hurt you, but it applies to forgive yourself as well. I learned that through forgiving myself it gives me a peace of mind. I don’t have to replay the situation or circumstance in my head numerous of times. It also allowed me to accept accountability in some of my decisions. Alot of times we want to place the blame on others and not ourselves. Learn from your mistake and move on. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. But through those mistakes, we learn valuable lessons.Having learned valuable lessons, we recognize that change is necessary. You learn to give yourself grace through self forgiveness. In closing, I pray this blog post has helped you recognize that forgiveness isn’t always easy. It’s a process, but in that process you learn, you change, and you keep moving. Don’t dwell on your past mistakes. Learn from them, become a better you and move forward.
