Who am I ?

Joining a mentorship program was one of my new year's resolutions. Originally, I wanted to get a mentorship for business, but God had other plans for me. My search led me to a mentorship program that discussed how to work effectively in earthly assignments. The word "EFFECTIVELY" stood out to me. It is difficult to run businesses and grow brands effectively. Also, the person holding this mentorship is someone I have observed operating with grace, poise, and integrity in business and ministry, so I trusted her advice.

Week one was intense because we dived right into identity. Would you believe that I had absolutely no clue who I was? Granted, I did have an idea but I was confused about my true identity. When my mentor asked who I was, of course, I replied that I am a mother, a respiratory therapist, an author, a blogger, etc. Now all that is true. However, my first identity is knowing who I am and to whom I belong - GOD!

In the course of my life, I lost my identity via social media, opinionated people, and even certain relationships I had. At one point, Satan even got into my ear. As we all know, he is the father of all lies. During my time leading an all-women ministry, I felt that I was not worthy enough to lead it. Therefore, I let it go. Yes, this mentorship program helped me get to the root of my insecurities.

Oftentimes we give the enemy more power by allowing him to run rampant in our minds. Using my mistakes in life, I thought I was a failure. Yeah, I had identity issues too!  Consequently, I beat myself up for my mistakes and didn't forgive myself for them, so I felt like a failure all the time. I would compare others' success to my own. Remember, comparison is the thief of joy.  Because I was ashamed to discuss how I messed up, I even put certain books on hold.

To me, this journey through life has been a blessing. As a result, if I hadn't gone through my identity crisis, I couldn't tell you how I overcame it. Now, going back to the word effective, I can rebuild my brand and business effectively because I now know my true identity. Therefore, I am now confident and unashamed of my past, allowing me to be effective in everything God has called me to do.

Finally, I would like to leave you with a few bible verses that I meditate on a lot and that have helped me and reassured me about who I am as a person.

In Jeremiah 1:5, God says that, “I knew you before you were formed in the womb, before you were born, I appointed you to be a prophet for the nations.”

The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17* , "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and behold, all things have become new."The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17*.

According to Genesis 1:27, "So God created humanity in his own image, he created men and women in the image of God."

As I conclude this blog post, Do not allow the opinions of others to define who you are. You are beautiful, you are loved, you are amazing and you are a child of the Most High! Never forget that. Thanks for reading!
